Transport & Parking

Yale West Campus is situated seven miles west of downtown New Haven in the Town of Orange and City of West Haven. Whether you’re coming to campus to do research, for a conference, or simply to meet colleagues for lunch, there are many ways to pay a visit.

Yale Shuttle

The Yale Shuttle provides a free service for the Yale community between West Campus, the West Haven and Union Train Stations, and the Central and Medical School campuses. Track your ride in real-time on DoubleMap or view the DoubleMap text version. For shuttle assistance, contact First Transit directly at 203.281.5470 or email George Longyear with comments or suggestions. When the shuttle is not running, West Campus occupants can request taxi service by calling West Campus Security at 203.737.3111.

Car Share Program

West Campus fleet vehicles are available to the West Campus community through an online registration form, where you will be prompted to complete Yale’s Driver Safety Awareness training. Authorized users will be able to reserve a fleet vehicle through yale.agilefleet.com or using the Fleet Commander touchscreen and keyboard kiosk located in the lobby of the West Campus Conference Center, Building 800, near the Amazon lockers and ATM. There you will also have access to check out and check in a vehicle, retrieving and returning keys to complete your reservation.

The West Campus fleet consists of four vehicles - Chevrolet Equinox (5 passenger), Chevrolet Traverse (7), Ford Escape (5) and a RAV4 Hybrid (5) – which are located in the parking lot at the rear of the Conference Center, Building 800, next to the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. Each vehicle glove box contains a gas card and a parking card for use at Lot 22 (Yale Science Building) and at College Place for parking at Yale School of Medicine.

To request reservations for overnight or extended travel please contact westcampus.administration@yale.edu.

Cycle

Cycling to West Campus is always a great sustainable option. From downtown New Haven we’re a little over 7 miles, or a cycle trip of around 45-minutes. Our McDougal Fellows have designed two routes, one interior (http://bit.ly/cycle_YWC1) and a coastal route with great views of Long Island Sound! (http://bit.ly/cycle_YWC2).
