Yale West Campus Landscape Improvement Project

As part of continuous improvements at West Campus construction of the Landscape Improvement Project began at the end of April. This project will transform the outdoor spaces surrounding the Conference Center and adjacent research buildings by creating new pedestrian pathways, expanding greenspaces, and improving traffic circulation for the shuttles and other vehicles. The project is scheduled to be complete by spring 2019.

UPDATE June 6, 2019

The West Campus Landscape Improvement project is substantially complete and open to the Yale community.

The shuttle has resumed its original route and will stop in front of the Conference Center. As with any project of this scale, there are some items that we will work to complete over time.  In some areas you will see new seed and vegetation and this will need time to grow. We ask that you please utilize the many new walkways for the foreseeable future. You will also note that some of our roadways have been reconfigured so please be mindful of new signage and road markings, and exercise caution as you drive around campus.

UPDATE, APRIL 25, 2019:

Beginning April 25, the north-east apex of West Campus Drive will be closed for approximately 2 weeks. The Morgan Lane gate and shuttle stop will remain open, and parking will still be available to residents of adjacent buildings. Other than for emergency access, we ask that all other campus traffic uses the Marsh Hill entrance during this time. Mroe information and a map of the affected areas is available here.

UPDATE, MARCH 29, 2019:

Crews are taking advantage of cooperative spring weather to resume their work to complete the West Campus Landscape Improvement Project. Work will recommence on Monday, April 1, requiring the removal of the orange fencing around exterior pathways and once again restricting access to the entire work area until the project is completed. Thank you for your patience in this final stage of the work.

UPDATE, FEBRUARY 15, 2019:

Although areas within the Landscape Project will remain restricted until the project is completed a pathway has been opened to allow for outdoor pedestrian travel between the Conference Center and buildings to the west. Snow fencing has been placed along this pedestrian route to separate it from the active construction site. A map highlighting the accessible pathway can be found below.

Please exercise caution when using these exterior pathways during inclement weather. These areas will not be addressed by Grounds until the more critical areas of campus are cleared.

Please refer to the following documents for information about the project:

We will continue to notify the campus about changes as they arise.  We know that construction projects may cause inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.
