Erin Duffy, a Ph.D. candidate working in Yale’s Chemical Biology Institute, has received a 2016 Scholar Award from the International Women’s Philanthropic Educational Organization. Ms. Duffy studies RNA biology with her mentor Dr. Matthew Simon at West Campus, using chemical tools to track RNA in cells throughout their lifetime. “I’m incredibly honored to be named a scholar. The award will help further my career development,” she said. The scholar award was established by the Philanthropic Educational Organization in 1990 to recognize and encourage academic excellence for graduate-level women. In 2015, there were 748 nominations, with 90 women receiving the award.
