Atrouli Chatterjee, a Postdoctoral Associate in the Yale Nanobiology Institute, has been selected as a 2023 ‘Optica Ambassador’ - one of ten exceptional Atrouli Chatterjeeearly-career scholars to provide mentorship to a global network of researchers, it has been announced.

Chatterjee is a member of the James Rothman Lab and a Co-ordinator of the Yale West Campus Student & Postdoc Committee.

Selected by previous honorees based on demonstrated volunteerism and mentorship skills, the emerging leaders will provide guidance and advice to a global network of young optics and photonics researchers.

Atrouli completed her BS from UC Berkeley in Chemical Engineering, M. Eng. from Cornell University in Biomedical Engineering, and Ph.D. from UC Irvine in Chemical Engineering. Her research interests include protein biochemistry and engineering, holotomography, as well as the optical engineering of biomaterials.

Established in 2002, the Optica Foundation carries out charitable activities in support of the society’s student and early career communities. Ambassadors visit student chapters, provide training at meetings and share their insights on webinars. The new inductees are expected to promote the importance of a diverse and inclusive photonics ecosystem spanning academia to industry.
