Leather and woven textiles used for upholstered furniture add color and luxury to American interiors. In this special subject tour, Patricia E. Kane, Friends of American Arts Curator of American Decorative Arts, considers traditional upholstery techniques and materials, from 18th-century reindeer hide to 20th-century textiles produced for the modern furniture design firm Knoll. Ample free parking is available at 900 West Campus Drive, West Haven, Connecticut (https://goo.gl/maps/SnUvXk3L3KuKz2PC9), or visitors can take the free shuttle, the Art Gallery Express, from outside the Gallery at 201 York Street, departing at 12:00 pm. Seating on the shuttle is limited, so an early arrival is advisable. Visitors will be met at 12:20 pm in the lobby of 900 West Campus Drive and escorted to the Hume Furniture Study. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Following the tour, the return shuttle departs 900 West Campus Drive at 1:30 pm.
