The Nelson lab uses phage display to construct and use libraries of synthetic antibodies for both the understanding of biological mechanisms underlying cancers as well as their treatment. Synthetic antibodies are modular in nature and can be engineered subsequent to their initial isolation through affinity maturation in order to increase desired attributes such as affinity and specificity. While development of these reagents is tailored to each individual target, they can be used in combination through cocktailing or bispecific formats of antibodies that are ideal for the recombinant nature of this technology.
