Founders Day Celebration at West Campus

Yale marked its 314th birthday with a university-wide Founders Day celebration on October 7. West Campus joined the celebrations with four open houses – at the Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, the Systems Biology Institute, Yale School of Nursing and the West Campus Urban Farm – enabling faculty, staff and students to experience new parts of the campus. Mirroring the theme of Yale “past, present, and future”, President Peter Salovey joined the West Campus community in Yale-blue donuts and cider, an exhibition of digital images, and the opportunity to don 18th Century costume, thanks to the kindness of the Yale Repertory Theater. Addressing a crowd of over 200 people, Salovey remarked that a more unified Yale would “build around people, our great community, and our great campus – in West Haven, Orange, and New Haven – to create a model for higher education.”
