Event description:

Collaboration among Yale museums and libraries, Computing and the Arts, and the Yale Digital Collections Center, is leading to the development of capacity around the use of newer technologies to document and analyze Yale’s collections of art and artifacts in support of teaching and research. This capacity includes expertise in computational sciences and digital cultural heritage, a new imaging lab dedicated to cultural objects, and a shared digital content infrastructure.

Join us on Friday, August 23rd to learn about the developments and how they might be used to further curatorial goals. Talks will include a review of computational imaging techniques including multi-spectral imaging (MSI), reflectance transformation imaging (RTI), and 3D imaging. There will be a demonstration of new image viewing tool for the Digitally Enabled Scholarship with Medieval Manuscripts project. A tour with representatives from all of the museums and Computing and the Arts will demonstrate these technologies in action. The afternoon includes a lunchtime talk on understanding the process and application of 3D imaging.
